Fall. As in snowfall.

So much for it being fall.  The only thing fall-ish is snow. Lots of it.

This morning we woke up to another 15cm of new snow.

I was planning on putting evergreen swags on the fence posts for Christmas decorations. But where are the posts!

The trees have lights on them and that's a good thing. Now we can turn on the lights to find the trees.

When I get up in the morning, there are lots of Blue Jays, maybe 20 or more, sitting a beech tree beside the cottage waiting for me to put peanuts out.

This isn't a very good photo because it was snowing, but every black blob is a Blue Jay.

When they descend on the feeder, some sit to eat while others grab a peanut and fly away.
The Mourning Doves often join in on the feeding frenzy.

Blue Jays need calcium year round in their diet. They dig in my window boxes for soil to nibble on as well as peck at paint on the garage door.  I find their footprints in the snow up against the doors.

Back on the topic of snow and snow removal…
Yesterday we spent the better part of the day shovelling and blowing. We took a break early afternoon and went to town for a few supplies.

The bay was rather bleak looking. The gulls that usually sit on the docks are gone however there were a handful of mergansers fishing.

The roads were snow covered and somewhat slippery.  Even the train tracks were covered deep in snow and we spotted a plow on the rails.

The overnight squall is easing off somewhat when I took the next photo early this morning and a new heavy band of snow is on the way with another 10-15cm to dump on us.

Guess what we're doing today?
