First port of call, Bird Shit Island, a.k.a. Eleanor Island a federal bird sanctuary.
Today was also Lucy's Birthday. She is 4 years old but
Anyway, she was thrilled to go for a ride and was first to hop in the boat despite our doubts that we could get old Bessie to turn over.
I've been waiting since the ice went out in late March to go to Bird Shit Island and I wasn't disappointed.
While I'm not a fan of Cormorants, this group of nests looks like a Totem.
There were plenty of Gulls nesting but there wasn't any sign yet of fledglings.
On the way home, we spotted the new cell tower that looks like a pine tree.
A telephoto lens reveals the equipment, though.
Okay, so the Hummers are back and the boat is operational. Summer has just about arrived.
I'm just waiting for next weekend when I can break out my "whites". Then it will be official!
So many things to comment on.
ReplyDelete1. Happy birthday, Lucy! Hope they made you cake!
2. That cormorant photo would look awesome framed. Really cool.
3. Are you KIDDING me? A cell tower that is disguised as a TREE?????????? Oh. My. Gawd. You know the old expression "more money than brains?" Yup, that definitely qualifies... here on the river they'd disguise the tower as a giant turd and no one would be the wiser...

I love the photo of the cormorants...how come you are not a fan of them? (I know nothing about them--so have no idea what they are like)
