Peerless 11

Today we went to Bala by boat and on the way home stopped at Beaumaris for gasoline.  To our surprise we spotted the Peerless II coming from Port Carling.

Peerless II was built in 1946 to augment the oil and gasoline delivery fleet for the B/A Oil Company.
Along with the Peerless (formerly a private yatch called Ina) the two ships travelled the 3 Muskoka Lakes selling and delivering gasoline and heating oil.

The Peerless II was operating on the lakes right up to 1994.

It was sold and became a private vessel until 2003 when it went up for sale again.

It was bought by Sunset Cruises in Muskoka and is operated by Captain Randy Potts.  There he is waving from the helm. He was the Captain of the Segwun at one time and knows the lakes like the back of his hand.

Now it's a cruise vessel and you can go out for a sightseeing tour, lunch or a dinner cruise.

I'm not sure if I saw this particular boat on the lake when I was young.  If I did, my dad would always identify anything smaller than the Sagamo, Segwun or Cherokee as the S.S. Mildred. So maybe I have seen it but was told it was something else. At any rate, I'd like to go for a cruise on Lake Rosseau or Lake Joseph on the Peerless II and learn about those lakes through Captain Potts.
