The weather went from sun to rain and then back to sun again. It wasn't too cold either.
On Saturday we drove to the annual Thanksgiving Market in Rosseau. We followed the blue sky but the rain clouds were clipping at our heels.
On Sunday we made Thanksgiving crafts.
Caitlin made a turkey on a wooden spoon.
We also rolled maple leaves to turn them into roses.
I couldn't find the florist tape so I used masking tape instead to attach the rose leaves to the wooden skewers. Martha would never approve!
For dinner we had turkey that in my opinion was too stringy and tough.
We had fresh cranberries from Johnson's Marsh in Bala, brussels (which I will never learn to like), mashed red skin potatoes, gravy, fresh broccoli, herb stuffing, locally grown carrots and maple ginger stacked squash. I got the recipe for the squash from FreshJuice and while it tasted great, the little stacks didn't turn out like the photo in the magazine. They never do, do they?
Then on Monday around dinner time, the Segwun sailed by on it's last cruise for the year. This sailing marks the end of the boating season for me. We won't hear her steam whistle again until next May.
When the Segwun gets back to home port, the crew empties out the coal which is no easy feat. It's easier getting it down into the hull than digging it out.
Then when all the coal is removed and the furnace is cold, she's closed up for the winter.
That first shot is just so appealing...I don't like turkey but my husband loves it so he would have loved what you had. I don't know why happened with me and turkey...I used to like it just fine....I still try it when someone else fixes it hoping my I will again like it.
