Sugarin' ...... Part one

It looks as though it's going be above freezing during the day and below freezing during the night for next few weeks and you know what that means?

Time to break out the red plaid and tap the maples!

Using a 7/16 drill bit .....

.... and a gentle tap to the spile ....

... the buckets and lids can be hung to collect the maple sap goodness.

The snow is really deep and it was difficult to get around from tree to tree.

Now to wait for the sap to start dripping and the buckets to fill.

However, we need to get more sap buckets.  We don't have enough.

And I need them to look a little more, oh, I don't know .... decorative?  You know, sort of Martha Stewart-ish.

Got it!

  1. I honestly had no idea that this was how you get maple syrup! Does it ever result in trees dying? (Sorry, I am totally ignorant here) Love the Martha Stewart buckets, but think I like the galvanised best :-)
