We went for a long walk on the lake again going from one end of the bay to the other.
Lucy had fun exploring the little island.
While we were out, we spotted the first gull of the season. It came into the bay swooping up and down along the shoreline. That little dot in the sky is the gull leaving the area. If you can't see the dot, at least you can see the bright blue sky.
Near the end of our walk, the snow was getting mushy from the sun and we were sinking deeper into the snowpack. It was tiring work walking without snowshoes. Even Lucy was getting tired. So she lay down and took a long break.
When we got home, a Pileated Woodpecker showed up at the feeder.
Usually, the Pileated's hang out at the suet feeders.
This is the first time we've seen one at the front feeder.
It's eye seems to be looking right at the sunflower seed.
Beautiful bird.
Beautiful Day.
Those are some of the best shots of pileated woodpecker that I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteWe had temps of 72ºF yesterday, the high today was in the 30's and supposed be down in the teens tonight.
