Preparing for Spring

It's difficult to imagine Spring when the outside temperature is -32 however eventually warmer weather will arrive.
When it does, we are anticipating flooding.

The outdrive on our boat has been at our mechanics repair shop over the winter.  Thinking about the severe flooding last year and thinking about the hole in the back of the boat without the outdrive, we thought maybe it was time to get the boat back to rights.

With the help of a neighbour who has a snowmobile and sled, the outdrive was delivered to our boathouse and installed. No more hole in the hull.

The lake ice is easily 4 feet thick.  It's going to be really late going out this year unless there is a heat wave this month.
Meanwhile, we are bracing for flooding when all this snow melts and the ice breaks up.

Our mechanic not only repairs boats but also vehicles. He looked at the alternator on The Beater and will come back when the weather is warmer and repair it too.

So the next item on our Prep for Spring list is Sugarin'.  Maybe the week after next it'll be time to tap the Sugar Maples.
