On our walk through the forest this morning we kept our eyes on the forest floor just in case we came across a newborn fawn.
Instead, I spotted this single yellow bloom from a Trout Lily. In the whole forest full of single leaves from this plant, this was the only bloom.

The Trout Lily belongs to the Monocots family of plants and recent DNA studies have confirmed that all Monocots share a common ancestor that evolved early in the history of flowing plants.
Sounds rather incestuous to me.
OH OH OH
ReplyDeleteThat is the MOST STUNNING photo of a trout lily I have ever seen.
