Holy liftin' was it windy last night!
The wind chimes were horizontal and the woods were howling.
The cloud formation was eerie but what was truly eerie was the waves were going out of the bay. They always come in the bay during a storm. It was like they were being sucked out by a powerful force, which it turns out, they were.
Out for a little drive this morning to see if there was any damage (there wasn't any) I spotted this flock of Common Goldeneye and Buffleheads. They have been living in Boreal Forest areas all summer and are migrating south. These are the last of the migratory birds we'll see this year. They are a sign it's time to put on the snow tires.
And I spotted this Red Tailed Hawk on the non-functioning power lines this morning. It had it's eye on the birds at the feeder.
This photo isn't very clear because I was using a zoom lens and no matter how I try, I can't hold the camera steady.
All the leaves have now fallen off the trees in the woods except for some on the small beech trees. And the leaves we so painstakingly blew the other day have all come back. Sigh. We'll take a crack at them again on the weekend.
That poor hawk looks miserable!
ReplyDeleteGlad there was no damage in your area. We are almost to the western border of Indiana and the wind really blew here, too. But the wind always blows here, so don't even know why I mention it...except day before yesterday I almost had a sheet blow away--had used 4 clothespins and two were off. I have never had that happen before.
