In many respects, the deer remind me of hobo's during the Great Depression because they wander from backdoor to backdoor looking for a handout.
In this photo, they've just spotted me and coming towards me to further investigate.
Mom doe is licking her chops, wondering what tasty morsel I might have for her.
Meanwhile, her twins keep their distance and stay on the septic bed.
Well, as good luck would have it, I happened to be making a casserole and had some ends of celery and plus a few carrots to toss outdoors.
I also found a couple of over-ripe avocados. The twins liked that .. guacamole.
And when the scraps were gone, I watched them wander down to a neighbours backdoor looking for a handout and from what I could see, it looked like they scored there too!
Such beautiful creatures. You are so lucky to see them so close-up. Love the pic of the doe licking her chops.
ReplyDeleteDoes she eat from your hand? She looks like she trusts you enough...but maybe you don't want to be that close to her this time of year.
