ba-da-boom
Or how about; it's so cold outside I chopped up my piano for firewood but only got 2 chords......
groan.
It was -35 oC early this morning according to our not-so-accurate thermometer. However according to the Weather Network, in our area is was -33 oC. So I'm thinking our not-so-accurate thermometer may be accurate.
And it's noisy too.
The lake is groaning under the ice. The trees in the woods are popping as the sap freezes. And the smoke alarm in the Treehouse is sounding because we forgot to remove the batteries.
It's also so cold outside that the snow on the lake is actually warmer than the air as can be seen by the "steam" rising off the lake.
Even though it's so cold outside, it's business as usual.
This frosty faced deer is scooping up fallen seed from the feeder.
Tell tale wing and tail feather tracks are left in the snow as a Barred Owl scooped up it's dinner. However it looks like dinner was making good it's escape.....
......not. A little further along the scuffle ended.
It's so cold outside that the Pine Grosbeaks are huddled up in the railing snowbank.
We have 6 females that are regulars lately.
But it's not so cold outside that Lucy won't chase the deer. Good exercise for her.
She doesn't chase them very far into the woods. And when she turns around to come back, they follow her. Good fun for everyone I think.
Looking on the temperature conversion chart, -35 oC is -31 oF.
At -40 both are the same.
Okay, so just how cold is it?
I have to leave the refrigerator door open to heat up the cottage!
That is funny--that Lucy chases the deer then they turn around and follow her back!
ReplyDeleteIt looks miserable cold there...but oh, so beautiful.
