Not a dinky rink.

The lake is absolutely perfect for a skating rink, except for the 10cm of powered snow that fell on it yesterday. Today's task was to shovel it off.

Call me the human Zamboni

I could have taken the time to hook up the small snow blower, but I was too lazy. Besides the shovel was handy so I just started plowing through the snow in the area I usually swim during the summer.

Pushing powder.

In the end and with David's help after he put his camera down, we now have a rink.
It needs to be flooded to keep it smooth so we'll need to get an ice auger and pump.

Done!

It's a perfect spot for skating, playing hockey, tossing some shoreline rocks and pretending to curl or just sitting out on a sunny day with a cocktail coffee and enjoying the solitude.
Actually, we could do all four things at once because this rink is huge and as the saying goes.....

.........size matters!

  2. *sigh* Jealous! I'm not usually one for cold weather/snow but when you can strap on some snowshoes and go hiking through the snowy woods AND ice skate on a frozen lake...that's some winter fun!
