Easter Saturday

Saturday started out quite overcast and foggy.  The temperature was heating up but of course the lake ice and snow on the ground created the fog.

The sun came out all day long and by 2pm the sap buckets were fairly full, so we collected and started a boil.
Conveniently right after our Family Easter dinner the sap was ready to finish indoors and look what we got .... about 1.3 litres of syrup!   Not too shabby I'd say.

Meanwhile there were lots of signs of spring this weekend.  Canada Geese have returned to our bay.

While I took the shot of the geese on the lake, this small squadron flew over. Perfect timing.

This may be the last week to collect sap. The long range forecast predicts that by the end of next weekend it won't go much below freezing at night.
Spring must now be on it's way!
