The first spot we always go to on our maiden voyage of the season is to Eleanor Island (a.k.a. Bird Shit Island) It's a Federal Nature Reserve.
It used to be full of Blue Heron nests but these days the Cormorants have taken over.
It's really noisy here too thanks to the gulls nesting in the rocks.
Here's a Herring Gull sitting on her nest.
I counted 5 Blue Herons nests. Years ago there used to be 20 or more.
Even Lucy was admiring the treetops against the sky full of fluffy clouds.
One of the most interesting trees is this one on Old Woman Island. Rumour has it The Beibs recently bought this island.
TV stations and whole bunch of hormonally enraged 12 year old girls descended on the island last summer just before it was officially sold.
Glad to see you are posting...now if I can just get my act together and post. But know it is going to be semi-posting for a bit. Hope things have settled down for you.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say I so love that last shot with the old stooped tree! If they cut it down, I don't think I want to know.
