Yesterday, Morris the Monarch emerged from his chrysalis and after his wings dried, he flew away.
We all thought he took off to points unknown and would eventually end up in Mexico.
This morning we spotted him on the pine tree by the boathouse. It seems he didn't fly far at all, he is merely building up muscle power. After all, it is a long flight to Mexico.
And we absolutely know it's Morris because there haven't been any other Monarchs spotted around here ALL summer.
Meanwhile the other caterpillar, Martin, is getting ready to emerge. His chrysalis is getting darker.
Maybe we'll see him tomorrow?
So they both made the transition!
