Martin the Monarch's chrysalis had turned quite dark overnight and this morning, his wings could be seen quite clearly through his little home which had turned transparent.
He popped out and unfurled his wings to dry in the morning sun.
He climbed up a little higher on the milkweed twigs I put out for him and let the sun warm his beautiful wings.
He practiced opening and closing his wings....something he's going to do a lot of to get to Mexico!
Before he flew away, he gave us one last view of his beauty.
It's always fun to watch the Monarchs go from caterpillar to butterfly. And we feel blessed that the only 2 Monarchs we've seen this year in all of Ontario were the one's that called our place home for a couple of weeks.
Wonderful photos, Deb. I have not seen a single monarch caterpillar anywhere. I so wanted Lorelei to get to see one go through the stages.
