Does On The Go

There haven't been a lot of deer around here since the nasty coywolf kill last January.  On and off since the spring there were 2 does, one with twins and the other with just 1 fawn that wandered through our area infrequently.

Yesterday Lucy spotted 3 does and chased them off in to the woods.  David thought it was mean that I let her go, but I think it was good because maybe deer don't know the difference between a pet labrador and a nasty coywolf.  If they are afraid of both, then mission accomplished.

This morning I spotted two does, good sized ones at that.  They were really nervous of my presence but curious at the same time.

They must be looking for a herd to join up with for the winter.

Or maybe there's a buck nearby and they are getting away from him.

Whatever, they were two does on the go.
I hope they stay around here because while it's hunting season, no hunting is allowed in our immediate area.

  1. I think you were smart letting Lucy chase them...

  2. Isn't it funny how much their color can change from one season to the next? I love how dark the tail is on the one that shows.
