During the late afternoon, 3 deer wandered into our yard. Lucy alerted us to their arrival.
Usually during this time of year there are many more deer that have formed into a social group. Maybe they are having a problem finding each other?
This doe was happily munching on the grass on our septic bed, when all of a sudden she took off!
I strongly suspect this is the deer we named 'Baby Buck' last winter. We watched him grow from young fawn to a young buck with wee little antler nubs. Look at his antlers now.
The deer we named Baby Buck became used to me walking around the property. This deer wasn't too skittish as bucks usually are, so he must indeed be Baby Buck, now a teenager.
His face is still dark, leftover from the Rut. His neck is thick which helps him when he antler duels with other bucks.
His antlers looks like they're ready to fall off. I hope they fall off nearby so I can find them.
He looks like a handsome fellow!
