We've named her that because she stomps and kicks other deer away from whatever little treasure she's found to eat. We've even seen her rear up and punch other deer on their back using her hooves.
This past spring she gave birth to one little fawn. We noticed that whenever she grazes, her fawn keeps a good distance away from mom. So she must swat at her offspring too.
Lately, another doe has been hanging out with Stompy and baby and also has learned (probably the hard way) to give Stompy a wide berth when she's eating.
Then she goes back to eating a little treasure I tossed out ..... a bruised apple.
Licking her chops, she gives us the once over stare.
Notice that the white patch under her chin isn't as dominant as Sweeties patch.
Meanwhile, the other doe that has chummed up with Stompy and fawn is waiting in the other direction and just out of our sight from our camera. That doe is staring intently at Stompy, coveting the apple pieces I'm sure. Stompy is giving her the stink eye.
Finished eating the apple, Stompy looks up at us and sticks out her tongue.
Cheeky!
She looks healthy, that is for sure. You got some great pics...
