Ice on snow

Last night at least 10cm of new snow fell and by morning, the snow turned to freezing rain. We didn't get major ice like they did down in The Big Smoke, but we got enough to make the surface crunchy with each footstep.

The ice has smoothed the snow surface making the Gazebo roof look like a mushroom.

The snow is just hanging over the edge.

Funny how it doesn't fall away.

The snow on the fence post birdhouse is growing.

Today, aside from blowing snow, I filled up the bird feeders.  The Pileated Woodpecker has been a regular visitor so I try to keep the suet feeders full.

But look who is dining on the suet feeder.  There are 2 or 3 Chipmunks around here that haven't hibernated.  They sure stand out on the white snow making themselves a perfect target for Owls.

Unfortunately today, our road plow dude ended up in the ditch.  Fortunately, our beater is perfect for pulling vehicles out of sticky situations.
