Long Johns

Whenever someone comments on how cold they are feeling, I ask if they are wearing long underwear.  Most times, people say no.

I wear my long johns all winter long and have several different varieties too.
Thin pink ones (with matching tops) that remind me of the leotards I wore as a child, and thick heavy duty ones to wear under jeans for prolonged outdoor activity. They even have zippered pockets, but no matching tops.

This morning I spotted the sun rising and oddly, it looked like the sun was wearing fuzzy long underwear.  Check it out....

The sun disappeared quickly though under a veil of snow.
Squalls again today. So what else is new.
Or maybe the sun just went back to bed where it's nice and warm under a thick down quilt.

According to Accuweather (go here)  the weather is supposed to get warmer next week.  Warmer, as in usual winter weather.
And bonus, it's supposed to go ABOVE freezing mid-February.  That means we'll be tapping the maples.

Here's their long range forecast starting February 9th:

But it doesn't look like much is going to change temperature-wise for March.

At least it will get warmer over the next two months.  Just the same, I'm not going to put away my long johns any time soon.

  1. I wear long johns all winter, too. Last year I didn't haved to, but that is the first time in forever. That is one reason I look forward to spring...to be able to stop wearing them. I have only got out one variety this year, but I have a couple heavier pair...but just feel so bundled when I wear them!

  2. I have been wearing long johns a ton this winter, too. It's made a big difference for me, in keeping the chills away. My kids even wear them to school, because they say the school isn't kept warm enough. Found some that are made of merino wool that aren't itchy, but soft and silky; love them!
