Pileated Woodpecker

This morning while making coffee, I noticed out the window a black blob on the seat inside the Gazebo.

Then a bright red head popped up. It was a Pileated Woodpecker.

It hopped onto the railing and pecked at some seed and suet that fell off the feeder.

I think it's time to retire this camera. Getting an in-focus shot is next to impossible.

Even though the photos are out of focus, there's no mistaken it's big bird.

Check out it's talons. Good grippers!

Since it's found the suet feeder, it will be back again.

So the project will be to set up a tripod inside the cottage looking out the window and using one of David's cameras, get some in focus shots.

  1. Out of focus or not, those are some great shots. THOSE TALONS. Wow. You wanna stay on their good side.
