New Year

The first light on the first day of the New Year cast a lovely warm glow in the living room.

It was -17 this morning.  It must have been colder through the night.

At any rate, I feel sorry for the deer. It must be such a hardship keeping warm, finding food in the deep frozen snow and dodging predators throughout the winter.  So I gave them some seed to eat on this frigid winter morning.

Later today and throughout the night we're supposed to get around 10cm of snow. That's about 4 inches which isn't much. So far this year we haven't had to used the snowblower.
I suspect I have just jinxed ourselves! Oh, well.

Happy New Year

  1. I always wonder how the animals survive this bitter cold...this is the time I really like to feed the birds. Can't think what day it was but we got about 5 or 6 inches of snow. A lot of it is gone, but the ground still has two or three inches all over.
