First Day of Spring

This is what the first day of Spring looked like here this morning.

White out.  However the temperature wasn't too cold at all, it was minus 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Pileated came for breakfast this morning.  Our Gazebo is a perfect Diner.  There are candles in the hanging chandelier, shelter from the elements, a table with view and a buffet of cherry suet.

Looks like Mrs. Pileated, who is sitting on the table, is telling Mr. Pileated where the buffet is located.

He's slowly making his way to the suet while she is giving him directions.

Success. He lands on the suet feeder but she has to wait for her turn.

Notice the posts on the Gazebo.  They've been chipped away thanks to all the local woodpeckers.

Breakfast in the Gazebo to celebrate the first day of Spring.

However this is going to be the last of the suet for the birds.  Bears are waking up and because there is so much snow on the ground, it's going to be difficult for them to find food. They'll search far and wide and we don't want our property being on the list of 'far and wide'.
